Year 1
In Year 1 we continue our learning journey. Our teachers and teaching assistants work very closely with our Reception teachers to help us to settle into Year 1 quickly, and get used to the extra work that we have to do.
Our lessons are a little more formal than in Reception, and we have Maths, English and Phonics lessons every morning. In the afternoon we study a range of subjects including RE, Science, PE, and ICT. All other subjects like History, Geography, Music, Art and DT are taught through topics enabling children to make links between subjects.
Our Catholic faith is at the centre of all we do, and we start and end each day with prayers. In the morning we share assemblies and collective worship or Mass with other classes.
In Year 1 we know that 'Jesus loves me' and we learn that we should always do our best and try to be a good friend to everyone.
