Year 5
In Year 5, we work very closely with Year 6, developing all of the skills that we have learned so far in Key Stage 2.
During the morning we study Maths and English, and we are set into mixed groups with Years 3, 5 and 6. This helps us to always learn at the highest level that we can.
During the afternoon, our themed Curriculum means that we enjoy lots of lovely activities such as RE, PE, Computing and Topic work.
Key Stage 2 share a different playground to the infant children, and in Year 5, we now play with Years 3, 4 and 6.
In our classroom you will find a happy learning environment where all children are encouraged and engaged in their learning in order to reach their full potential.
Year 5 and 6 are very special years for us at St. Joseph's, as they are what we call 'Sacramental Years'. This means that we are getting ready to receive a very special sacrament, which is a gift from God. Every second year, Years 5 and 6 work together to prepare to make their Confirmation. Confirmation is a very special Sacrament, as we renew the promises that were made on our behalf at Baptism, this time making them for ourselves. It allows us to be full members of the Church.
Our Catholic faith is at the centre of all we do, and we start and end each day with prayers. In the morning we share assemblies and collective worship or Mass with other classes. Year 5 is also the first year that we can become Altar Servers in school. This is a very special honour.
