Year 2
In Year 2, we take pride in being the oldest children downstairs in Key Stage 1, and we strive to always set a good example to the younger children in school. Our teachers work very hard to help us to get ready to transition upstairs to Key Stage 2 throughout the academic year.
In Year 2, just like the rest of the school, we follow a 2-week timetable to accommodate all of our learning opportunities. Most mornings we learn Maths, English and Phonics. In the afternoon we study a range of subjects including RE, Guided Reading, Science, PE, PSHE, Computing, Art, DT, Music, History and Geography.
In Year 2, we do some very special assessments towards the end of the year called SATs. Our SATs help our teachers to find out how we are learning in school, and what additional help we might need to ensure that we always achieve our best. We work hard throughout the academic year to prepare for our SATS assessments at the end of Year 2. This academic year (2023-2024) the SATs have become non-statutory, however like the other classes our teachers will continue to assess us using them.
Our Catholic faith is at the centre of all we do, and we start and end each day with prayers. In the mornings we either share assemblies or Prayer and Liturgy with our own and other classes. We attend Mass on alternate weeks with Reception, Year 4 and Year 6.
